4 Teras – Going High-Tech

Day: Wednesday
Date: 15 August 2012
Time: 9.40 - 11.00 am

Students should be able to:

  • read a passage

  • answer a set of open ended questions based on the passage

  • write a summary of the passage


Activities:
Reading

  1. The teacher distributes a set of handout containing a passage, a set of comprehension

  2. questions and a summary question.

  3. He tells the students that they are going to read a passage.

  4. The teacher may ask two or three students to read the passage aloud.


Comprehension

  1. Students are to answer a set of comprehension questions on the passage they have read.

  2. Whole class discussion is carried on later.


Summary

  1. Students are asked to look for and underline sentences that touch upon the effects of television on children or the bene?t it brings.

  2. They then are required to summarise these sentences, using the skills they have been exposed to in earlier classes.

  3. They are reminded to to stay well under the 130 words limit.
